Decarboxylate your cannabis
The process of decarboxylation is key to making potent cannabis oil .Raw cannabis contains a acidic cannabinoid called THCA. When cannabis is heated, that acidic group is removed, or “decarboxylated,” resulting in the creation of THC. Applying heat to your cannabis prior to infusing it into oil also activates other cannabinoids like CBD and CBN, which can have their own unique medical benefits.
Preheat oven to 240 degrees F
One important step in making cannabis-infused oil is to decarboxylate, or activate, the THC in the plant material. This process makes the THC available for our bodies to absorb and use. To decarboxylate cannabis, simply spread your ground cannabis onto a baking sheet and bake it in the oven at 240 degrees F for about 40 minutes.
Once your cannabis is decarboxylated, you can infuse it into any type of oil — coconut, olive, canola, etc. The process is simple: just combine your oil and cannabis in a slow cooker and heat on low for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally. Then strain out the plant material and store your oil in a dark glass container. You can use your cannabidiol-infused oil topically or ingestion; just be sure to start with a small amount — 1 teaspoon or less — and increase as needed.
Place cannabis on baking sheet
Preheat oven to 245 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread grated or broken-up cannabis evenly over the surface. Bake for 40-60 minutes, stirring a few times during baking. Check the cannabis after 40 minutes to see if it is browning too quickly; if so, lower the oven temperature.
Bake for 30-40 minutes
Preheat oven to 245 degrees F (120 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Spread your cannabis evenly on the baking sheet. Bake for 30-40 minutes, stirring a few times throughout.
Remove from oven and let cool. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Choose your oil
There are many types of oils that can be used for this recipe. Some people prefer to use olive oil, but you can also use coconut oil, canola oil, or any other type of oil that you like. Just make sure that the oil you choose has a high smoking point so that it doesn’t burn when you cook with it.
Olive oil
Olive oil is a popular choice for making cannabis-infused olive oil. It’s a healthier option than some of the other oils on this list, and it has a subtle flavor that won’t interfere with the taste of your final product.
To make your own cannabutter or canna-oil using olive oil, you need to infuse it with decarboxylated cannabis. This process will release THC and other cannabinoids into the oil, making it potent and effective.
Here’s a simple recipe for making cannabis-infused olive oil:
Ingredients:
-1 cup (240ml) of olive oil
-1 cup (7 grams) of decarboxylated cannabis
-Airtight glass jar or container
-Cheesecloth or coffee filter
-Slow cooker or saucepan
Instructions:
1. Combine the olive oil and decarboxylated cannabis in your slow cooker or saucepan.
2. Heat the mixture gently for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.
3. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
4. Line a funnel with cheesecloth or a coffee filter and place it over your glass jar or container.
5. Slowly pour the mixture through the funnel, straining out the plant material as you go.
6.. Store your infused olive oil in a cool, dark place and use as needed..
Coconut oil
Coconut oil is a great choice for making cannabis-infused oil because it’s high in saturated fat and can be easily heated to the correct temperature. Coconut oil also has a relatively neutral flavor, so it won’t interfere with the taste of your finished product.
To make cannabis-infused coconut oil, you will need:
-1 cup of coconut oil
-1 cup of chopped cannabis flower or 1 gram of hash
-Double boiler or saucepan
-Cheesecloth or strainer
Instructions:
1.Place the coconut oil in the top part of the double boiler and heat until melted. If you don’t have a double boiler, you can use a saucepan instead. Just make sure that the bottom of the saucepan is covered with water so that the coconut oil doesn’t burn.
2.Once the coconut oil has melted, add the chopped cannabis flower or hash and stir gently.
3. Place the double boiler or saucepan over medium heat and simmer for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.
4.After 2-3 hours, remove the pan from heat and allow it to cool slightly. Pour the infusion through a cheesecloth or strainer to remove any plant matter. Store your finished product in a glass jar or container.
Canola oil
Canola oil is a versatile oil that can be used for cooking, baking, and frying. It has a neutral flavor, so it won’t affect the taste of your food. Canola oil is also a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are beneficial for your health.
Cannabis-infused canola oil can be used in any recipe that calls for oil. It can be used to fry foods, such as french fries or chicken nuggets. It can also be used in baking recipes, such as cakes or cookies. You can even use it to make salad dressings or to lubricate a baking pan.
Combine cannabis and oil
Making cannabis oil is easy. The basic process is to combine cannabis and oil in a bottle or jar and then heat the mixture until the cannabis is decarboxylated. After the cannabis is decarboxylated, it can be used to infuse any oil.
Add oil to saucepan
Before adding anything else, pour your oil of choice into the saucepan. You’ll want to use a cooking oil with a high smoke point, such as olive oil, vegetable oil, or canola oil. Depending on the amount of cannabis you’re using, you may need to adjust the amount of oil. For example, if you’re using 1 gram of cannabis, you’ll need 1 cup of oil.
Add decarboxylated cannabis
To make cannabis infused oil, you will need to add decarboxylated cannabis to your chosen oil. The ratio of cannabis to oil will depend on the potency you’re going for and how much oil you’re using. A good rule of thumb is 1 gram of cannabis per 1 cup of oil.
Once you have your desired ratio of cannabis to oil, add the two ingredients to a slow cooker and stir well. Then, set the slow cooker to low heat and let the mixture infuse for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally.
After 6-8 hours, remove the lid and allow the mixture to cool slightly. Then, use a cheesecloth or coffee filter to strain the plant matter from the oil. Once strained, your cannabis oil is ready to use!
Stir gently over low heat for 3-4 hours
Making cannabis oil is easy, but the process does require time and attention. Be sure to follow these instructions carefully and always use extreme caution when handling cannabis and concentrated oils.
Start by heating your oil in a large pot or slow cooker over low heat. Then, add your ground cannabis and stir gently. You’ll want to keep the temperature low enough that the oils don’t start to smoke, which will release harmful toxins.
Let the mixture simmer for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally. Once finished, strain the oil through a cheesecloth or coffee filter to remove any plant material. Your cannabis oil is now ready to use!
Strain the oil
Cannabis oil can be used for a variety of recipes. It can be used in baking, as a cooking oil, or even topically. Making cannabis oil is a fairly simple process that can be done in a few hours. The most important part of making cannabis oil is to strain the oil thoroughly so that all the plant matter is removed.
Place cheesecloth over bowl
Line a strainer with cheesecloth and place it over a bowl. Pour the oil and plant matter mixture over the strainer. Use a rubber spatula to help guide the mixture through the strainer. If needed, you can use your hands to squeeze the cheesecloth and extract as much oil as possible.
Pour mixture over cheesecloth
Pour the mixture of oil and cannabis over the cheesecloth into the other bowl, then gather up the edges of the cheesecloth. Twist it tightly so all the oil stays in, then tie it with a rubber band or string. Be sure to leave a long tail so you can grip it easily later.
Holding the cheesecloth over the bowl, use your other hand to twist and squeeze it so all the good stuff drips down into the bowl. When you’ve wrung out all you can, untie the cheesecloth and discard whatever’s left inside.
Let it strain overnight
If you’re in a hurry, you can let the oil strain for a few hours, but for best results, let it strain overnight. This will give the solids time to settle to the bottom of the jar so that you can pour off the oil without getting any solids in it.
Store your oil
The first thing you need to do is get a container to store your oil in. You can use a mason jar, a glass jar, or even a Tupperware. Make sure the container has a lid that seals well. You don’t want your oil to leak out and make a mess.
Pour oil into dark glass jar
Once your oil is finished infusing, you’ll need to strain it and store it in a dark glass jar.straining it and store it in a dark glass jar. Storing your oil in a dark glass jar helps to preserve it and keeps it from going bad as quickly. You can store your cannabis oil in the fridge or freezer if you’d like, but just know that it will become thick and hard to use if you do so.
Store in a cool, dark place
Cannabis-infused oil is perishable and should be stored in a cool, dark place. We recommend storing it in a mason jar or another airtight container. Keep it away from heat and light, as this will cause the oil to degrade. When stored properly, your oil can last for several months.
