Decide what ratio of oil to use.

The amount of oil you use is up to you. A good rule of thumb is to start with 1/4 cup (60 ml) of oil for every 1 ounce (28 g) of ground cannabis. You can always add more oil if you want a more potent massage oil.

If you want to make a smaller batch, you can use 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of oil for every 1 gram of ground cannabis.

Choose your oils.

To make a basic cannabis massage oil, you will need:
-1/2 cup of a carrier oil like jojoba, grapeseed, olive, or coconut oil
-1/4 cup of cannabis-infused oil
-10 drops of essential oil (optional)

You can find cannabis-infused oils at your local dispensary, or you can make your own. Check out this video for instructions on how to do that:

Once you have your ingredients assembled, simply mix them together in a bowl and store in a dark glass jar.

Infuse the cannabis.

This is the most important step of the process. If you don’t infuse the cannabis properly, your massage oil will not have the desired effect.

There are two ways to infuse the cannabis into the oil:

The first way is to use a double boiler. Fill the bottom part of the double boiler with water and place it on the stove over medium heat. Put the oil and cannabis in the top part of the double boiler and stir gently. Let it simmer for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally.

The second way is to use a slow cooker/crock pot. Add the oil and cannabis to the slow cooker and set it on low heat. Let it simmer for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally.

Once the infusion is complete, strain it through a cheesecloth or coffee filter to remove any plant matter.

Strain the cannabis.

After the cannabis has infused in the oil for at least four hours, you’ll need to strain it out. The easiest way to do this is to line a mesh strainer with cheesecloth and set it over a bowl. Pour the oil and cannabis mixture through the strainer and let it drip into the bowl. Be sure to squeezed the cheesecloth with clean hands to get all of the oil out.

Add the infused oil to your massage oil.

Pour the infused oil into a dark-colored glass jar. Add the other massage oil ingredients and stir well. Store in a cool, dark place for up to six months.
