Gather your supplies
Before you start, you’ll need a few supplies. cannabis tinctures are alcohol-based, so you’ll need high-proof ethanol like Everclear, as well as some cheesecloth and a glass jar. You’ll also need about 7-10 grams of trim or bud, depending on how potent you want your tincture to be.
Once you have your supplies, it’s time to get started.
Decarboxylate your cannabis
Decarboxylating your cannabis is an important step in making a successful tincture. If you skip this step, your tincture will be much less potent.
Decarboxylation is the process of heating your cannabis to activate the THC.THC is the main psychoactive compound in cannabis that gives you the feeling of being high.
To decarboxylate your cannabis, preheat your oven to 240 degrees Fahrenheit. Spread your ground cannabis evenly on a baking sheet and bake for 40 minutes. Let the Cannabis cool before using it to make your tincture.
Infuse your alcohol with cannabis
Tinctures are a great way to consume cannabis without having to smoke it. They’re also very easy to make at home. All you need is some high-proof alcohol and some weed.
The first step is to decarboxylate your cannabis. This is important because it activates the THC in the plant material. You can do this by spreading your ground cannabis on a baking sheet and baking it in the oven at 240 degrees Fahrenheit for about 40 minutes.
Once your cannabis is decarboxylated, simply add it to a jar with your alcohol of choice and seal the lid tight. Make sure to use a ratio of about 1 gram of cannabis per 1 ounce of alcohol.
Let the mixture infuse for about 4 weeks, shaking it every few days. After 4 weeks, strain the plant material from the tincture using a cheesecloth or coffee filter. Your tincture is now ready to use!
Filter your tincture
Once you’ve finished cooking your tincture, it’s time to filter it. This step is important, because it will remove any plant matter or impurities that might be present in the tincture.
To filter your tincture, you will need:
-A coffee filter
-A funnel
-A clean glass jar
Line the funnel with the coffee filter, and then pour the tincture into the funnel. The tincture will drip through the filter and into the jar. Once all of the tincture has been filtered, you can seal the jar and store it in a cool, dark place.
Store your tincture
To get the most out of your tincture, it’s important to store it properly. If stored in a cool, dark place, your tincture will remain potent for many years. An airtight container is also important, as exposure to air can cause your tincture to degrade more quickly.
Many people choose to keep their tinctures in glass jars or bottles. Others prefer to use food-grade plastic containers. Whichever type of container you choose, be sure to label it clearly so that you know what’s inside. It’s also a good idea to date your tincture so that you can keep track of its age.
Once you’ve made your tincture, it’s time to start taking it! The best way to do this is by placing a few drops under your tongue and holding them there for at least 60 seconds before swallowing. This allows the tincture to be absorbed directly into your bloodstream for the fastest possible effect. You can also add your tincture to food or drink, but keep in mind that it may take longer to take effect this way. Start with a small amount and increase as needed until you find the perfect dose for you.
