Are you looking for a way to make your own cannabis vape oil? If so, this blog post is for you! We’ll show you how to make cannabis vape oil using two simple methods.
Checkout this video:
Decarboxylate your cannabis
Decarboxylation is a process of heating your cannabis at a specific temperature for a specific amount of time, thereby activating the compounds in the plant material and making them available for your body to use.
Preheat oven to 240 degrees F
Decarboxylation is the process of gently heating your cannabis to activate the THC. While cannabis that hasn’t been decarbed won’t get you high, it will still have all the other positive effects of cannabis such as reducing anxiety or pain relief. By decarbing your cannabis, you are making it much more potent and effective.
The best way to decarb your weed is in an oven. If you have an oven that goes down to 240°F, preheat it now. If not, set it to the highest temperature it will go. Place your ground up cannabis on a baking sheet and put it in the oven. Set a timer for 30-40 minutes and let your weed bake.
Place cannabis on baking sheet
Preheat oven to 245°F (120°C). Break cannabis up into small flakes and spread evenly on baking sheet. Bake for 40-60 minutes, stirring every 20 minutes. The amount of time you need to decarboxylate your cannabis will depend on the amount, oven temperature and how finely ground your material is. When finished, the cannabis should be brown in color and smell fragrant.
Bake for 30-40 minutes
If you want to make cannabis vape oil, you need to decarboxylate your weed first. This process will make the THC more potent and effective.
To decarboxylate cannabis, all you need to do is bake it in the oven. Preheat your oven to 245 degrees Fahrenheit, then spread your ground cannabis on a baking sheet and bake it for 30-40 minutes. Once it’s done, remove it from the oven and let it cool before using it to make vape oil.
Extract THC from cannabis
To make cannabis vape oil, you will need to first extract the THC from the cannabis plant. This can be done by using a solvent like butane or isopropyl alcohol. Once you have extracted the THC, you can then add it to your vape oil.
Place decarboxylated cannabis in mason jar
To make things as simple as possible, we will be using a mason jar. Start by adding your decarboxylated cannabis to the jar. If you have not yet decarboxylated your cannabis, we have a great guide that covers that process in detail here. For this method, you will want to use 28 grams (1 ounce) of cannabis.Once your cannabis is in the jar, add your chosen solvent. Again, there are many options to choose from and each has its own benefits and drawbacks that we will cover in more detail later on. For now, we will be using isopropyl alcohol as our solvent.
Once you have added your solvent, seal the jar tightly and give it a good shake. Be sure to label your jar with the date and contents so that you can keep track of it later on.Now let the mixture sit for 24 hours, shaking it occasionally to help break up any big pieces of plant matter. After 24 hours have passed, strain the mixture through a coffee filter or cheesecloth into another container. This will remove any solids that are left behind.
Finally, place your container in a hot water bath and allow it to simmer until all of the alcohol has evaporated off. This process is called evaporation and it leaves behind only the resin glands which contain THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids. Be sure to keep an eye on things as the last thing you want is for your mixture to boil off!Once all of the alcohol has been evaporated, you are left with a golden liquid that contains a high concentration of cannabinoids. Congratulations, you have just made cannabis vape oil!
Fill jar with solvent (butane, propane, CO2, etc.)
There are many ways to extract the THC from cannabis, but using a solvent is by far the most effective and safe method. The most common solvents used are butane, propane, CO2, and ethanol. Butane is the most commonly used solvent and is very effective at extracting THC. However, it is also very flammable so it is important to use it in a well-ventilated area and to be very careful when handling it.
Propane is another popular solvent for extracting THC. It is not as flammable as butane but it can still be dangerous if not used properly. CO2 is a less popular choice for extracting THC but it is growing in popularity because it is non-flammable and considered to be safe. Ethanol is the least popular choice for extracting THC because it can cause the loss of some of the terpenes which give cannabis its flavor and aroma.
Let sit for 24 hours
After 24 hours have passed, remove the lid and check on your mixture. The THC should have fully extracted from the plant material and into the oil. To double check, use a coffee filter or cheesecloth to strain the mixture. You should now have a clean cannabis oil with no plant matter in it. If you want to further purify your oil, repeat this process with fresh alcohol.
Filter THC extract
The process of making cannabis vape oil is pretty simple. You just need to filter your THC extract with a coffee filter. This will remove any impurities and give you a nice, clean oil to work with.
Place coffee filter over funnel
Place a coffee filter over the top of a funnel and pour your THC extract into it. The coffee filter will help to strain out any impurities in the extract.
Pour THC extract into funnel
THC extract is the main active ingredient in cannabis. It’s what gets you high. But it’s also what makes cannabis oil, butter, and other edibles so potent. You can infuse just about anything with THC extract, but one of the most popular methods is to make vape oil.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to make cannabis vape oil using THC extract:
1. Pour THC extract into funnel
2. Place funnel on top of bottle or jar
3. Use syringe to slowly and carefully add extract to desired amount
4. Close bottle or jar tightly and store in a cool, dark place
Let THC extract filter through coffee filter into new container
Using a coffee filter, filter the THC extract into a new container. This will remove impurities and refine the extract.
Make cannabis vape oil
Making cannabis vape oil is easy, and it can be done at home with just a few simple ingredients. All you need is some cannabis, a carrier oil, and a few other household items. The most important thing to remember when making cannabis vape oil is to use a high-quality cannabis strain. This will ensure that your oil is potent and tastes great.
Combine THC extract and vegetable glycerin in a pot
In a pot on low heat, combine your THC extract and vegetable glycerin. Use a 1:1 ratio of THC extract to vegetable glycerin. For example, if you have 2 grams of THC extract, use 2 grams of vegetable glycerin.
Stir the mixture occasionally as it heats up. You want to heat it until the THC extract is fully dissolved into the glycerin. This process can take up to an hour.
Once the THC extract is fully dissolved, remove the pot from heat and let it cool.
Heat mixture until glycerin is fully dissolved
In a saucepan over low heat, warm your glycerin and cannabis mixture stirring occasionally until the glycerin is fully dissolved. You don’t want to boil the mixture, just gently heat it until the glycerin is completely clear.
Pour mixture into a container and let cool
Pour your mixture into a container and let it cool down. Once it’s cooled, you can add your cannabis oil. You want to add your oil while the mixture is still warm, so that it mixes in well. Once you’ve added your oil, screw on the lid and shake the container until everything is mixed together.
